Most High Torque Worm Gear Shaft for Gearboxes from Qimao Metal Manufacturer works fine on paper but fail when real torque hits. That is why we built this High Torque Worm Gear Shaft differently. It starts with 42CrMo4 or 20CrMnTi alloy steel, then gets either case hardened or through hardened depending on your load profile. The thread flanks reach 58–60 HRC while the core stays tough enough to absorb shock and twisting forces.


After heat treatment, we CNC grind the thread profile instead of leaving it rough hobbed. This gives you smooth flanks, accurate lead angle, and low friction against the worm wheel. The bearing journals and keyways are machined in the same setup to keep everything concentric within 0.02 mm. No vibration, no noise, just reliable torque transmission. You get a worm shaft that fits your gearbox and actually lasts under real working conditions.

For case hardened versions, we carburize at 930°C then quench. Core hardness ends up around 30–35 HRC, while thread flanks reach 58–60 HRC. For through hardened versions, we aim for 45–50 HRC throughout.


After hardening, we straighten the shaft if needed. Then we grind the thread profile, bearing journals, and keyway base. Thread accuracy meets grade 6 or 7 per DIN 3975. Surface roughness on the flanks is Ra 0.4 µm or better.


We add chamfers on all edges and drill center holes on both ends. Each shaft comes with a hardness report and a dimensional inspection sheet at no extra charge. You get what you pay for, and we do not hide defects.

1. Made from case hardened 20CrMnTi or through hardened 42CrMo4 steel. High surface hardness on thread flanks with a tough core that handles twisting forces. Cheap mild steel shafts deform under high torque loads.

5. Every shaft checked for straightness and runout before packing. We use a laser micrometer and dial indicators. If bent over 0.03 mm per 300 mm, it goes back to rework. No exceptions. Bent shafts ruin bearings.
