When powered on: the electromagnetic force opens the pilot hole, the pressure of the main valve chamber is released, and the medium pressure pushes the main valve spool to open.

Power off: the pilot hole is closed, the medium pressure is rebuilt through the balance hole, and the main spool is reset and closed.
